December 14, 2003 was an historical day. Saddam Hussein was finally captured by American forces in Iraq, ending a manhunt that lasted most of the year. In addition to that, several friends got together in Antioch, California for a "White Elephant" gift exchange for the upcoming holiday. Those friends were all members of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, or American Legion Auxiliary. While at that party, these folks held a meeting that established the American Legion Riders at the Harding-Noia Post 161 in Antioch. Dubbed the 'Rolling 9s' and representing the 9th District of the American Legion in California, it was agreed that the group would continue to ride together and support the American Legion and the community in a manner that they had been doing in years prior. By-laws were adopted and officers were elected.
