Indian Chief
Tony was 17 when he joined the Navy. He attained the rank of CT3 while attending SFSU on deferment, and earned a BA in Mathematics. He graduated June 1968, got a naval commission and married Carlene, his high school sweetheart. Assigned to the NCSSA and served on the Chief of Naval Operations staff supporting FLAGPLOT and JCS in the Pentagon as the Navy eliminated the use of Quartermasters who wrote backwards on glass panels and entered the computer age. He bought his first motorcycle then and currently owns numbers 10 (Indian Chief) and 11 (BMW K1200LT). Tony comes from a family rich in military tradition…he is the second of three generations of Fettig men to serve in the Navy. His father served in the South Pacific in WWII and, most recently, his son served in Japan. His daughter served in the Coast Guard, and he has two brothers who served in the Air Force in Viet Nam and Thailand during the Viet Nam conflict.
